This is a Q & A session between me and Chris from about 2 months ago. Hope you guys enjoy it. Don't forget to leave a comment on the website vampirebabylon.podbean.com or you can contact me thru vampirebabylon@gmail.com <<Do you have any book signings or conventions coming up the rest of the year or next year in 2011?>> I’m planning to go to Comic-Con, San Diego, as usual. The rest is up in the air right now, so I’d encourage everyone to read my newsletter, which you can subscribe to on www.chrismariegreen.com. Or you can keep an eye out for my Twitter/Facebook messages for updates. <<If you continue doing the Vampire Babylon series do you see Dawn and Costin being more then what they are at the time of Deep in the Woods being published?>> I haven’t done any major plotting, aside from the short story that’ll be published in THOSE WHO FIGHT MONSTERS, a horror anthology that’s coming out in March, 2011. In that story, the focus isn’t on Dawn and Costin (Dawn and Kiko are featured). But if there are further books/novellas/short stories, there would be some sort of progression or development with Dawn and Costin. However, if there was any conflict between them, it would have to be organic rather than some kind of plot device that comes between them. <G> <<If the VB series doesn't keep on going anytime soon do you see yourself doing a book of short stories concerning the background of the other characters in the VB series outside of Dawn and Costin or little side cases they do when not searching for Vampire Clans outside of the one coming out concerning Dawn and Kiko?>> Good question—I’ve been giving some thought to this lately, especially with e-reader platforms making it so easy to self-publish. I would seriously consider doing novellas, in particular. I could go a couple different directions: doing those side cases (since Kiko and Natalia now have a growing P.I. agency of their own). Or I could go back into the history of earlier vamp hunting teams who worked with Costin. The P.I. thing appeals to me more, I think. There are more than just vampires to fight out there! Also, the Meratoliage clan from the London trilogy is still around, and I’m sure they wouldn’t have stopped their service to the Dragon just because he looks to have been destroyed. The clan was into the black arts, and I see them causing some trouble for the good forces of the world…. Also, Eva is still alive and well, doing her thing with her “new life” and that mystery man. There are possibilities there, as well! <<Do you see Kiko and Natalia ever getting really past the issues they have because of the injury kikko suffered early in the series and not being able to use to his abilities as much?>> I can see them being a happy, stable couple. She’s a really good balance for him—Costin saw that, and he’s a pretty decent judge of character. ; ) But I’m sure there would indeed be challenges for Kiko and Natalia along the way. <<If any of your books get picked up for a movie or if the series gets picked up for a movie, who would you want to play each character?>> In my wildest dreams, I’ve always thought that Summer Glau would make a great Dawn Madison. But youth is a pretty important element of the first trilogy at least, so there’s a certain window of opportunity that would have to be utilized with the casting, LOL. I’m not sure about Kiko, although there was an actor on BOARDWALK EMPIRE recently who made me think that he’d fit the bill. Not sure about Breisi, either, although I’d ask for a “Mexican Maggie Q” type, but shorter. <g> I’ve always pictured Frank being played by Bruce Willis. Ron Pearlman would be fun, too. Eva would have to be a relative unknown who has that “it” factor—just looking at her, you know she’s going to be a movie star in the future because she has the Allure. Maybe an Amanda Seyfried type? <<Same as above but if it was picked up as a tv show?>> I’d go with the same cast. I can’t picture these books on regular network TV though; cable channels attract such fantastic, high-profile actors and actresses nowadays that I think movie people could find a home in Vampire Babylon. <g> <<If it was picked for a tv show would you want to be the writer of each episode, have each episode follow the books in timeline fashion, or be a consultant to the show?>> LOL—I’d love to consult! It would be rough to write each episode, but if the showrunner would ask me for input, I’d be very happy. I think the best format for the series would be a cable TV short-run season (13 episodes per cycle, like SONS OF ANARCHY or BREAKING BAD). Each cycle could flesh out one book. Or, if the season were longer—22 episodes—the season could use an entire trilogy. I can just see this series on FX. <G> <<Would you ever want the series be done as a movie series, tv series(Like the Dresden Files) or graphic novel(Dresden Files)?>> Definitely a cable TV series. Graphic novels would be fabulous, too! <<When you continue the book series which city would you want it to be set in next?>> I’m not positive, but I had visions of a Gotham-type Chicago. I was also thinking of Japan…. I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s read the series. It’s a pleasure to write things that people enjoy, and you all have been very supportive and enthusiastic! Jonathan, thank you, too, for putting this together!
